Snow Day Decluttering Ideas
Want to be productive while you're stuck home during this ice storm? Here are a few items you can declutter easily:
1. Mail
a. Throw out or shred junk mail (but first, look for the phone number or website listed that allows you to request to be taken off of their mailing list).
b. Pay or respond to bills and important documents (then sign up for paperless communications and file only what you have to keep).
2. Junk Drawer Items
a. Empty it out onto a counter or table not immediately close to the drawer.
b. Throw out trash. Sort the rest into categories that make sense to you. Move anything you don't need on a daily or weekly basis to another area in your home.
3. Pantry Items and Medicine
a. Throw out expired foods and medicines. Don't forget your spices, oils, vitamins and supplements.
b. If there is anything in date that you know you won't use make a plan to donate it to a food pantry or shelter.
4. Clothes, Shoes and Accessories
a. Pull out clothes that are too big, damaged in any way or that you simply don't like.
b. Make plans to consign or donate what you're not going to keep.
5. Bathroom Products
a. Trash anything that is expired or you don't use anymore.
b. Make plans to donate anything that is unopened and still in date that you don't plan to use (like that lotion a certain someone gifts you every Christmas).
